Patience of Saints...

Last week would have tested anyone's patience to breaking point. As we feared, Jaja de Jau was wholly unsuited to the prevailing ground which resembled something to which Quakers might suggest that hot milk be added. She jumped well enough though and we are hopeful that on spring ground she might be able to win a little handicap somewhere.

The torrential rain scuppered the reappearance of Royal Announcement at Ffos Las where we felt that we had found a race that would see him to good effect. He is well in himself and Anthony is on the lookout for something similar in the near future.

Biggest disappointment of the week though must go to Blue Zealot who failed to raise a gallop when fancied to do so at Wolverhampton. Read all about it here on the excellent geegeez site:

Highs and Lows

It has been a week of positives and negatives.

On the debit side, Cresswell Crusader has run his last race for us. After several very trying months, he finally reappeared for us at Chepstow on 7th November. Conditions should have been perfect for him and although he travelled well for a long way when the pressure was applied he went out like a light. It was no great surprise to us that he bled once again and he will now be retired, perhaps to join a show jumping yard.

On the credit side, Royal Announcement is ready to reappear for us in a bumper and he has a number of different options available to him over the next fortnight, depending on conditions. We are hopeful that he can pay his way for us this Winter.

Jaja De Jau is also on course for a juvenile hurdle at Leicester on 19th November. If she fails to acquit herself wll in that sphere, we have the option of returning to the All Weather.

Blue Zealot is another new addition to the team. She was Anthony's first flat winner when bolting up over 2 miles on the All Weather. Although a bit disappointing last time, she is expected to win again at some point.

A New Horse!

We are delighted to announce the addition of Jaja De Jau who will be leased to the club this winter.

She is a three year old filly who is rated 65 on the flat having now had three outings. She will be aimed at juvenile hurdles in the next few weeks and will start schooling properly outside next week. As soon as she is proficient she will be entered in something suitable. We fully expect her to be an versatile dual purpose performer for us this Winter!

Not Long Now...

Things are really hotting up this end as we look forward to seeing both club horses reappear as soon as suitable engagements are found. After the trials and tribulations of the past few months it will be good to see them back on the track again and we are hopeful that they will run and well and come back in one piece.

As soon as we have identified suitable races for each horse I will update here. In the meantime, if you did want to receive further details on the AJH Racing Club at £300 per annum all in, please drop us a line at ajhoneyballracing@gmail.com.

Although the recent heavy rain is far from welcome  from a personal perspective, it does at least mean that we are guaranteed soft ground for the start of 'proper' racing in October.

Cresswell Crusader's preparations are almost complete and he is expected to reappear for us sometime during the middle of this month over two and a half miles, almost certainly in a handicap hurdle. Royal Announcement will follow a couple of weeks later in a bumper, given his favoured soft ground.

It has been a frustrating year for us with a swathe of niggling injuries and setbacks. Although we are all too long in the tooth to be anything other than realistic, it certainly seems that we are finally beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel and we are looking forward to a return to action. Members have been incredibly patient throughout this period and Anthony is determined to reward their loyalty with some good runs this winter.

AJH Racing Club Stable Visit

Anthony and the team hosted a visit of the AJH Racing Club on Sunday and a thoroughly enjoyable and informative time was had by all. Members had an opportunity to view what Anthony feels is his most powerful team to date as well seeing the club's horses in the flesh. All members have been provided with a summary of each horse's prospects which should provide members with a valuable edge in their punting this winter.

If anyone would like to join us, please drop us a line at ajhoneyballracing@gmail.com.

Members' Stable Visit

As indicated in the previous post, the date for the next AJH Racing Club has been set for Sunday 2nd September at 10.30 hours. Apart from having the opportunity to view club horses Cresswell Crusader and Royal Announcement, there will also be the chance to view the team that Anthony has assembled for the forthcoming winter campaign. At the last stable visit in January, members were rewarded with a host of winners, many of whom were unraced. For those who are unable to attend, I will be producing a 'horses to follow' sheet. If early indications are anything to go by then this could be Anthony's best ever season.
